Time for an update!

Well, it seems I have a student visa now. I applied for one on Monday at about 1 pm and got it at around 7 pm. That's some fast action. I thought I'd have to go see a doctor and get a chest x-ray and wait for a month. But nooo, it was much much easier. Imagine that! Though I'm still a bit wary... What if I get an e-mail saying I haven't fulfilled all the requirements or something??

Nothing is in the way of me and Mari going to Australia now... Incredible!

Finally!

Today the CoE finally came! This means I now can apply for a student visa. Mari doesn't have access to the Internet this weekend so we'll do it on Monday together.

How exciting!

WTF happened???

I know I should be happy that Adam didn't win because now he has more freedom, but I still believe he was robbed. As I read somewhere; America is scared of Adam. He's just too out there, too good, too androgynous.

Anyways, I'll be looking forward to Adam's first album, one in a line of maaaany, I'm sure.

Kris did a good job dueting with Keith, but I would rather have seen Keith on his own.

I'm hooked!

Still going a bit off topic but I just haven't been able to stop listening to Adam Lambert's studio version of The Tracks of My Tears. It's just amazing!

About Australia I can say this: no Confirmation of Enrolment yet! The wait is killing me!!

American Idol finale

I know this is a little off topic but I just have to write about it. This week is the finale for season 8 of American Idol and there is no doubt who should win. Adam Lambert has been the most consistent, entertaining and just plain amazing contestant this year (or any year for that matter). Ever since I saw his audition I knew he would go far. For evidence of his superiority just check out these videos of the contestants' performances.

But will he win? I do not know... The American public might be a bit too close minded for such a flamboyant performer to win. His competition Kris Allen, also a very good singer, is a clean-cut, boy next door type, Christian missionary who is already married (he's only 23). Sadly this will probably lead to people voting on the basis of that and not singing ability. No doubt there are people out there who prefer Kris's singing and that is as it should be, but as the judges have stated many times Adam is far superior to any of the other contestants this year.

In all honesty though, it doesn't matter if Adam wins or not, he is a star already and has an amazing career in front of him, no matter what the outcome.

What really annoys me now is that Keith Urban will be performing with Kris on the finale, even though Keith has said he was blown away by Adam's disco night performance. I'd prefer him performing alone, or with Adam... But I suppose the producers have something to do with it...

We're leaving on June 30th and traveling through London and Abu Dhabi. This is so exciting I'm about to burst! Now let's just keep our fingers crossed that we get visas...

Don't Stop Me Now!

Man I love that song. I feel like singing it at the top of my lungs all the time now. The preparations are going well, I've paid the tuition fee for the first semester plus the OSHC fee (healthcare) and sent in papers to KELA for student benefits. We've also been to the police and applied for new passports. The pictures didn't turn out so great (when do they ever??) but the new passports will be ready next Monday.

Still can't believe it's all really happening... Amazing!

Don't stop me now
I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball
Don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time
Just give me a call...

Ah, Queen. Don't you think that song would make a perfect Doctor Who or Casanova fan video? I can just see David Tennant running around being gorgeous with I'm a sex machine, ready to reload blaring in the background. Oh yes. Off to YouTube to see if there already is one...

Sunburned Country

As you can tell from the title of this blog I'm a big fan of Keith Urban, so here's a little song by him and fellow Aussie Olivia Newton-John in honour of our impending trip to Australia, "the sunburned country".

2 months to go

I can't believe I'm going to Australia in only two months. In fact if we take the cheapest route we've found so far and leave on June 30th we'll be Australia in exactly two months. The course won't start until July 27th but we have to be there for orientation on July 13th, and because they suggest we get there earlier to get the lay of the land and organise a place to stay we'll be there quite a bit in advance.

Before we get that far there's still a lot to take care of. This coming week will be very busy. I have to get a new passport, apply for all kinds of benefits from KELA, accept the offer from Griffith and pay the tuition fee for one semester and take the necessary papers to Kilroy Education (the agent helping us with all of this). Once all that's done and I've gotten confirmation from the uni I can apply for a student visa. Oh and then there's the plane ticket, have to buy that too, before the prices go up too much. The best thing would've been to buy them six months in advance, but that was pretty much impossible.

And here I am wasting my time blogging about everything I have to do, instead of doing it... Though there's not much I can do at the moment since it's Saturday...
